Psychological Testing

Testing

Psychological testing provides meaningful insights into how adults and children think, feel, and behave. Understanding the “why” behind certain behaviors or struggles can reduce years of confusion, mislabeling, or ineffective coping strategies. These evaluations can provide a faster, more accurate diagnosis of mental health conditions, identify learning challenges, and assess emotional concerns, providing a clear path forward for quicker support and treatment. Most tests are covered by insurance. Please check with your insurance carrier to ensure it is covered in your plan. Self-pay options are also available for all testing.

ADHD Testing

ADHD Testing (available at our Downtown Indianapolis, Lafayette, and Plainfield locations)

Benefits of ADHD Testing

  1. Objective Measurement of ADHD Symptoms
The ADHD Test provides real-time data on attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity, offering measurable insight beyond observation alone. Compared to alternative assessments, the ADHD Test demonstrates exceptional sensitivity (88%) and specificity (93%).

  2. Supports Accurate Diagnosis
Combining behavioral data with clinical evaluation helps confirm or rule out ADHD more confidently and reduces the risk of misdiagnosis.

  3. Quick and Non-Invasive
The test takes only about 15–20 minutes and involves a simple computer-based task, making it especially useful for children, teens, and adults.

  4. Tracks Treatment Effectiveness
Follow-up ADHD Tests can help determine how well medications or other interventions are working, allowing for a faster and more accurate fine-tuning of treatment.

  5. Visual Results for Better Understanding
The results are presented in easy-to-understand graphs that patients and families can review, making the process more transparent and collaborative.

MMPI -2

  2. Clarifies Mental Health Diagnoses
It aids clinicians in diagnosing conditions like depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and more with greater accuracy and objectivity.

  3. Improves Self-Awareness
Patients gain a clearer understanding of their emotional strengths, challenges, and how they respond to stress, empowering them to take a more active role in their mental health journey.

  4. Guides Personalized Treatment
The results help providers create a treatment plan that’s better matched to the patient’s personality, coping style, and needs, saving time and improving outcomes.

  5. Supports Workplace, Legal, or Medical Decisions
In some cases, MMPI-2 results are helpful for disability evaluations, court cases, or pre-surgical psychological assessments. The MMPI-2 provides a more in-depth examination of your emotional and psychological well-being. It helps identify patterns in mood, behavior, and stress response, providing both you and your provider with valuable insights to support an accurate diagnosis and guide effective, personalized treatment.

Benefits of Brain Function Testing

  1. Measures Core Brain Functions
Assesses memory, attention, reasoning, and verbal ability through scientifically validated tasks.

  2. Backed by Neuroscience
Developed from decades of research at the University of Cambridge, brain function testing provides results grounded in real cognitive science.

  3. Objective and Quantifiable
Unlike traditional questionnaires, Brain Function Testing gives measurable, data-driven results to track changes and progress over time.

Helps clinicians tailor treatment, coaching, or lifestyle recommendations based on your unique cognitive profile.

  6. Ideal for Monitoring Brain Health
Especially useful for early detection of cognitive decline, tracking post-concussion recovery, or optimizing brain wellness.

Brain Function Testing Helps Uncover Insights for Conditions Like:

Early Alzheimer's Disease - Especially beneficial for older adults, psychological testing offers valuable insights into cognitive functioning, helping clarify memory, attention, and problem-solving abilities while guiding next steps for care and support.

Dementia (non-Alzheimer’s) - Especially beneficial for older adults, psychological testing offers valuable insights into cognitive functioning, helping clarify memory, attention, and problem-solving abilities while guiding next steps for care and support.

Mild Cognitive Impairment - Especially beneficial for older adults, psychological testing offers valuable insights into cognitive functioning, helping clarify memory, attention, and problem-solving abilities while guiding next steps for care and support.

Depression- For individuals with depression, Brain Function Testing can highlight how symptoms may be affecting cognitive functions like attention, memory, and problem-solving. These insights help guide more personalized treatment and track improvements over time—offering a clearer picture of how the brain is functioning alongside mood. It provides objective information – helping the patient understand the cognitive deficits caused by their depression.

Autism and Asperger’s while useful for cognitive insights, is NOT a standalone diagnostic tool for Asperger's (now ASD).

Benefits of Brain Function Testing (as part of an Asperger’s and Autism ASD evaluation):

  • Brain Function Testing can highlight how symptoms may be affecting cognitive functions like attention, memory, and problem-solving, helping to understand an individual's unique cognitive profile (attention, memory, reasoning, etc.).

  • Aids Differential Diagnosis: Can help distinguish ASD from other conditions.

  • Informs Interventions: Informs Interventions: Provides data to develop personalized educational and therapeutic strategies.

  • Practical Objective Data: By complementing clinical observations with standardized cognitive measures, this testing provides useful, affordable additional information. While full neuropsychological testing offers deeper insights, it's significantly more costly, making this a practical choice.

Addiction and Drug Abuse - Brain Function Testing provides objective patient data, which can be particularly useful in addressing the denial often associated with substance use disorders.

Alcohol Abuse - For alcohol abuse, Brain Function Testing offers patient data that helps to objectively counter denial, a common barrier in treatment for alcohol use disorders.

PTSD - Brain Function Testing reveals the neurological impact of PTSD through objective data, while its subjective questions aid in the diagnostic process.

Concussion - Brain Function Testing provides objective data for patients recovering from concussions, helping to track their brain injury recovery and establish a timeline for their recovery.

Stroke - For stroke recovery, Brain Function Testing provides objective data on brain function, helping to monitor progress and establish a clear timeline for rehabilitation.
