Medical Billing Follow-Up & Denials Specialist
Hendricks Therapy is seeking a full-time Medical Billing & Collections Specialist to join our mental health private practice in Danville, Indiana. This position may be in-office, remote, or hybrid depending on experience and need.
We are looking for a compassionate, motivated, and detail-oriented team member to support our mission of increasing access to quality mental health care throughout Central Indiana.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of medical billing experience, preferably in a
physician practice or hospital setting, with strong knowledge of insurance follow-up, claim
denials, and accounts receivable management.
Only applicants with prior medical practice or hospital billing experience will be
considered.
Job Responsibilities
• Monitor aging reports and prioritize outstanding balances for timely follow-up
• Track, investigate, and resolve unpaid or denied claims with insurance companies and guarantors
• Investigate claim errors, missing information, eligibility issues, authorization problems, and coding discrepancies
• Correct, resubmit, and appeal denied claims as appropriate
• Work with providers to obtain accurate documentation needed for claim resolution
• Document all communication and account activity within the billing system
• Communicate professionally with providers, management, insurance representatives, and team members
• Identify recurring denial trends and recommend process improvements
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Highly detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and work independently
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize workload and resolve accounts efficiently
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Adaptability to changes in processes, systems, and workflow
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel
• Strong typing and computer skills
• Experience working within billing systems and EHR platforms
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience required
• Prior insurance follow-up and denial management experience preferred
• Credentialing experience preferred
• Additional education in healthcare billing, coding, or healthcare management is a plus
• Experience with Compulink EHR is a plus
• Other Mental Health billing experience is a plus
Pay & Benefits
• Full-Time, Hourly Non-Exempt Position (approximately 35+ hours weekly)
• Pay starting at $20.00+ per hour, commensurate with experience
