Testing

Testing

Testing can provide valuable insights into an adult's or child’s cognitive, emotional, and personality functioning. One key benefit is that tests can help diagnose mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, ADHD, or autism spectrum disorders. Hendricks Therapy offers computer-generated tests at a fraction of the cost of most psychological tests.

With the information from your clinical interview and rating scale(s), your physician will interpret results to determine if you qualify for an ADHD diagnosis.

Testing We Offer

ADHD Assessments (ages 6-65):

Our practice utilizes QbTest ADHD assessments, an FDA-cleared device providing objective data for diagnosing and treating ADHD in patients aged 6-65.

The test involves a 15 or 20-minute computer-based task that measures you (or your child’s) ability to maintain attention and impulse control. The results are based on a comparison of your test with data from other people of the same sex and age.

ADHD is not just a childhood condition; it significantly affects adults, too.

Your primary or mental health physician recommends an ADHD assessment to gain a more precise and complete understanding of the challenges you might be experiencing. ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that can affect focus, organization, impulse control, and emotional regulation, often impacting daily life, work, and relationships.

Testing enables your physician to measure your response to treatment, ensuring you receive optimal results in a streamlined manner.

The QBtest evaluates all three aspects of ADHD, including inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. Compared to alternative assessments, the QBtest demonstrates exceptional sensitivity (88%) and specificity (93%).

Recent studies have suggested that men with untreated ADHD have a much higher mortality rate than men who have treated ADHD. Those men with untreated ADHD, on average, die seven years earlier. For women the statistics are worse as their lives are cut short by nine years.

How Should I Prepare:

Get a good night’s sleep before the test.

Limit caffeine intake on the day of the test.

If you’re taking ADHD medication, be sure to follow your prescribed schedule.

The timing of your test will be based on how many hours have passed since taking your medication, depending on the specific type.

If your child is being tested, let them know they’ll be taking a computer-based test that’s intentionally designed to be uninteresting.

When will I receive my results?

Most results are ready in 3-5 days.

An assessment helps your provider:

• Confirm or Rule Out ADHD:

To ensure the symptoms are indeed related to ADHD, or if they are due to another condition.

• Develop a Tailored Treatment Plan:

An accurate diagnosis allows your physician to create the most effective and personalized treatment strategy, including specific therapies, lifestyle adjustments, and, if necessary, medication.

• Provide Clarity and Understanding:

Understanding a diagnosis can offer significant relief and self-awareness, helping to better navigate your strengths and challenges.
